Measure your space in about 5 minutes

2. Room size

Measure wall to wall, in centimetres (cm). Not sure? A tape measure and 2 minutes is all it takes — round to the nearest cm.

Working in feet and inches? 1 ft = 30.48 cm and 1 in = 2.54 cm — so an 8 ft ceiling is 244 cm, a 10 ft wall is 305 cm.

3. Wall by wall

Tick the walls where you want cabinets or storage, then count the doors, windows and obstacles on each one. Wall lengths come from your room size: A and C = length, B and D = width.

4. Photos of the space

One photo per wall helps the shop more than measurements alone. Stand in the corners and shoot wide.
